Kirātatikta is a Sanskrit word referring to “chiretta plant”, a plant from the Gentianaceae (gentian) family of flowering plants, and is used throughout Ayurvedic literature such as the Caraka-saṃhitā. It is also known by the name Bhūnimba in Sanskrit, and as Kālamegha or Kalpanātha in the Hindi language.
The official botanical name is Swertia chirata and is commonly referred to in English as “Green chiretta” or “Creat” among others.
This plant (Kirātatikta) is also mentioned as a medicine used for the treatment of all major fevers (jvara), as described in the Jvaracikitsā (or “the treatment of fever”) which forms the first chapter of the Sanskrit work called Mādhavacikitsā. In this work, the plant is mentioned being part of the Kirātatiktādigaṇa group of medicinal drugs.

Chirata plants can be used for diabetes. Hypoglycemic property of kiratatikta helps lowering blood sugar and stimulate the production of insulin in cells; hence, good for diabetes.
Kiratatikta is a highly recommended drug in polycystic Ovarian disease or PCOS. Anti-inflammatory property of this drug helps to reduce inflammation in ovaries and this drug also helps to manage the weight gain and increased blood sugar level associated with PCOS.
Chirata cleanses the blood and this blood purifying property helps to minimize pimples and acne eruptions. It also helps in boosting immunity and skin health in general.
And this drug is loaded with healing properties so helps in quick healing of the wound and cuts.
Expectorant activity of this herb helps to clear mucus from the airways and provide relief for asthma and shortening of breath.
Anthelmintic (anti-parasitic) property.
Anthelmintic property Chirata lowers the risk of parasitic Worm infestations. It suppresses the activity of parasites and helps to expel out the helminthes and other parasites from the body.
Chirata root helps in the management of fever due to the presence of certain constituents that have antipyretic activity especially malarial fever.
Helps in the management of Digestive issues like peptic disorder, indigestion, bloating, flatulence, heartburn and stomach ache, constipation,

Chirata Powder(churna) - 1-3 gm twice a day or as directed by the doctor.
Kiratatikta may lower blood sugar level, So it is generally advisable to monitor your blood sugar levels while taking antidiabetic drugs. It is strictly advised to consult a doctor before taking it during pregnancy, lactation or if you have any chronic disease.
