Infertility in Male


Overview

Male infertility is a condition in which male inability to cause pregnancy in a fertile female. It may be due to deficiencies in semen or low sperm quality. This means that the couple aren't able to conceive a child, even though they've had frequent, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year or longer.

Causes

  1. Sedentary lifestyle
  2. Unhealthy diet -
  • Excessive intake sour, spicy food
  • Excessive intake sweet, oily, unctuous food
  • Hormonal disorders
  1. Hormonal imbalance
  2. Infections
  3. Occupation - Welding, prolonged sitting jobs like Truck driving, or working on a laptop computer for long stretches of time

  • Varicocele
  • Tumors. - Cancers and nonmalignant tumors can affect the male reproductive organs directly

  • Defects of tubules that transport sperm
  • Celiac disease
  1. Lack of proper sleep
  2. Lack of physical exercise
  3. Suppression of natural urges (Natural urges are the Involuntary functions such as hunger, tears, urination, sneezing, farting etc)

Symptoms

  1. Loss of smell - in gonadal dysfunction
  2. Pain in the testicle - in conditions like varicocele
  3. Weak ejaculation
  4. Unable to get erection
  5. Difficulty maintaining an erection
  6. Lump in the testicles - caused by cysts, hydroceles, and epididymitis
  7. Recurrent respiratory infection
