Frozen shoulder

Frozen Shoulder, also called adhesive capsulitis, causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder.  Shoulder joint structures are enclosed with a fibrous sheath capsule. Frozen shoulder occurs when this capsule thickens and tightens around the shoulder joint. Over time, the shoulder becomes very hard to move.

  • Difficulty in  shoulder movement.
  • Arm pain.
  • Limited range of motion.

According to Ayurveda there are three elements present in our body : Vata,Pitta and Kapha which should be in balance. Frozen shoulder also known as Apabahuka is a disease that usually affects the Amsa sandhi (shoulder joint). It is produced by the Vata dosha. Amsa shosha (wasting of the shoulder) can be considered as the preliminary stage of the disease. The stiffness to the joints is contributed by Kapha Dosha.

  • Inflammation of ligament holding shoulder bones.
  • Surgery that makes the shoulder immobile for a long time.
