Fistula in Ano

An anal fistula is an infected tunnel between the skin and the anus. Most anal fistulas are the result of an infection in an anal gland that spreads to the skin. One opening of the fistula (Internal opening) is inside the anus (or rectum) and another opening ( External opening) is on the skin surface around the anus. A tube-like structure (Fistula tract) connects them.

  1. Frequent anal abscesses .
  2. Pain and swelling around the anus .
  3. Bloody or foul-smelling drainage (pus) from an opening around the anus. The pain may decrease after the fistula drains.
  4. Irritation of the skin around the anus from drainage.
  5. Pain with bowel movements .
  6. Fever, chills and a general feeling of fatigue .

  1. Hot and salty  spicy foods.
  2. Excessive intake of meat food.
  3. Sitting in one place for a long  hrs.

According to ayurveda there are three biological elements/doshas in our body; vata, pitta and kapha which should be in balance. When a person indulge in Unhealthy food and habits, Vata get aggravated & localized in anal canal, affecting the anal canal by creating a track which leads to discharge of pus known as Bhagandara (Fistula in ano).
