Overview
Digestive diseases are disorders of the digestive tract, which is sometimes called the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. During digestion, food and drink are broken down into small parts (called nutrients) so that the body can absorb and use it as energy and building blocks for cells. The digestive tract is made up of the esophagus (food tube), stomach, large and small intestines, liver, pancreas, and the gallbladder.
According to Ayurveda, digestive problems are the root causes of almost all the diseases. If the digestive system works well and properly, many of the diseases can be prevented and the problems that have already occurred can also be eliminated. Agni (digestive fire) of the body are responsible for all the digestive processes that take place in our body. If Agni is functioning properly, our body can effectively digest the food, absorb all the nutrients and get rid of the waste regularly without any difficulty.
