Dandruff is a common condition that causes the skin on the scalp to flake.  It isn't contagious or serious. It is a skin condition that affects the scalp which may result in social or self esteem problems. In severe cases it may cause intense itching and inflammation of the scalp.

  1. Itchy scalp
  2. Scaly and crusty scalp
  3. Sometimes skin flakes on the eyebrows, beard, and moustache.
  4. Oily scalp
  5. Hair fall

According to Ayurveda there are three elements in our body, they are vata, pitta and kapha which should be in balance. Dandruff can be correlated with Darunaka which occurs due to the imbalance of kapha and vata.

  • Irritated, oily skin
  • Not shampooing enough
  • A yeastlike fungus (malassezia) that feeds on oils on the scalps of most adults
  • Dry skin
  • Sensitivity to hair care products (contact dermatitis)
  • Other skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema

Treatment protocol aims at:

  1. Relief from itchy scaly scalp and hair fall.
  2. Rejuvenate scalp and prevent further attack of dandruff and promote hair growth.

Scales occur because of inflammation, the outermost layer of the epidermis becomes dry and flaky and starts peeling. The excess of dead skin cells results in the appearance of scaly skin.
