The Women's Health Council is a statutory body set up in 1997 (under statutory instrument No. 278 of 1997) to advise the Minister for Health and Children on all aspects of women's health. Its mission is to inform and influence the development of health policy to ensure the maximum health and social gain for women in Ireland. The UCSF Women's Health Clinical Research Center (WHCRC) provides a focus for clinical research in women's health. Researchers are actively exploring breast health, dementia, HIV in women, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, urinary incontinence, and polycystic ovarian disease.
